SBI Cheque Book Request through SBI Online / Internet Banking – Step wise Procedure
If you are an active user of the SBI Internet Banking, you can use this way. It’s very handy to request for Cheque book in SBI through internet banking.
You just need to login to your SBI Online Banking Account to apply for SBI Cheque Book.
Follow these simple steps –
Step 1 – Logon to SBI Internet Banking Portal – www.onlinesbi.com
Security Tip – Don’t Click on Fraudulent website links. They may look similar to SBI internet banking website but not genuine. Always Check for genuineness of the link before proceeding.
Step 2 – Enter your “Username”, “Password” and Login to your SBI online account.
Step 3 – Hover the mouse over “Request & Enquiries” tab and click on “Cheque book request”. See below images for reference.
Step 4 – In the next window, you will Cheque book request online form where you need to fill following information –
- Select the account number for which you wish to apply for the Cheque book.
- Multi city option – Yes
- Number of Cheque Books – How many cheque book you need. You can apply for maximum 2 cheque book at a time for saving account.
- Number of cheque leaves – Select the number of leaves you required as per you need.
- Instrument sub-category – Choose either Order Cheque or Bearer Cheque as per your choice.

- Bearer Cheque – A person holding the cheque can collect the amount if it is a bearer cheque.
- Order Cheque – The payee (i.e. the person in whose favour the cheque is issued) only or his authorized person only can collect the amount of the cheque if it is an order cheque.
Once you complete the form, Click on Submit.
Step 5 – On the next page, verify or cross check the details of your cheque book request and select the delivery address at which the cheque book will be sent.
- Registered Address – The address registered in bank account available with bank.
- Last available dispatched address – Where the last Cheque book was dispatched.
- New Address – Enter the delivery address at which you wish to receive Cheque book in case of change in address and submit.
Step 6 – A high security transaction password (OTP) will be sent to your registered mobile number. Authenticate yourself using this password and click on confirm button.
Your cheque book will be dispatched within 3 working days from the date of request. So it was the detailed step-by-step procedure to apply for SBI Cheque book through SBI Internet Banking or Online Banking.

SBI Cheque Book Request through SBI Yono Application (SBI Anywhere Personal)
Apply for SBI Cheque Book through SBI Yono Application, which is more easy over SBI internet banking. For this, you must have SBI Yono App in your mobile device.

Now, follow these steps to apply for Cheque book through SBI YONO Lite –
Step 1 – Login to “SBI YONO Lite Application” on your mobile device using USER ID and Password. If you are new user, then you must register and activate the application before using its services.
Step 2 – On the home page screen, click on “Requests”.
Step 3 – You will get various options likes Aadhaar Linking, Get MMID, Cancel MMID, Cheque Book, TDS enquiry. Choose “Cheque Book” Option.
Step 4 – Further, there are three options – Cheque Book Request, Stop Cheque, Cheque Book Tracker. Select “Cheque Book Request”.
Step 5 – Select the “Account Number” for which you want the Cheque book.
Step 6 – Fill the Cheque Book Request Form, where you need to fill the following information –
- Account Number
- Account Type
- Branch Name
- Number of Cheque Books
- Number of Cheque Leaves
- Instrument Sub Category
Once you complete the form, Click on “Request” Button at the bottom.
Step 7 – Confirm the Delivery Address. A following message will be displayed as shown in screenshot below.
“Request accepted for processing. Please note this transaction number for future reference : UC12345678”
Once your request is accepted, you will also get a message on the phone –
“on your request, cheque book has been issued in account no. XXXXXXX4649. IF NOT REQUESTED, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR BRANCH.”
Now, Your Cheque book request is registered successfully and you will receive the cheque book in few days at your registered mail address by post or courier.
SBI Cheque Book Request through SBI Quick – SMS Banking
SBI Quick – SMS Banking is a new service from the bank using which you can get account balance, mini statement and more.
Note : To apply for Cheque Book through SMS Banking, your mobile number must be registered in the account.
If your mobile number is already registered with the bank, send an SMS with following pre-defined keywords from your registered mobile number.
Step 1 – Register for SBI Quick – SMS Based Banking
Send SMS in the format – “REG ACCOUNT NUMBER” to 09223488888. See the Screenshot below for reference.
Example – REG 33206XXXXXX
In a few moments, you will receive confirmation about successful registration. Now you can proceed for SBI Cheque Book request through SMS.
Step 2 – Send SMS in following format to request a new Cheque book
SMS Keyword – “CHQREQ” , Send it to “09223588888” without adding any other keyword.
The confirmation for Cheque book request will be sent to you through SMS in following format.
“Your request successfully accepted and pending for processing. Reference No.987654. It will be delivered on your registered address of the bank. Kindly send the following SMS for confirmation: CHQACC Y 827336 to 09223588888”
For confirmation of request just type “CHQACC Y 827336” and send it to “09223588888.
SBI Cheque Book Request through Branch
If you are not a tech savvy person, you may visit your home branch to request for Cheque Book. Download the SBI application form for Cheque Book Request.

Step 1 – Get the “Cheque Book Request” or Application Form in the Branch.
Step 2 – Fill the form with requisite information – Account Number, Number of Leaves (10,20,25,50), Address and put your signature on form.
Step 3 – Bank personnel will verify your signature and give your acknowledge for your application.
Step 4 – Once your application is accepted, it will be processed and Cheque book will be dispatched within 3 working days from the date of request.
You can either collect the cheque book from branch or request your branch to send it by post or courier.
SBI Cheque Book Request through ATM
Here is stepwise procedure to request SBI Cheque Book through ATM Machine –
Step 1 – Visit any of the SBI ATM machines and carry your active ATM card linked to your bank account.
Step 2 – Swipe the ATM card in machine and enter your ATM PIN.
Step 3 – Select “Services’” from ON-SCREEN options.
Step 4 – Choose “Request Cheque Book” from the services option.

- As soon as Cheque book is dispatched, a message with speed post or tracking number or details of the courier will be sent to you.
